PMI Melbourne Chapter 2011 Chapter Board Elections
The PMI Melbourne Chapter Board has formed the Nominating Committee for the election of the 2011 Chapter Management Board. Nominating Committee members are:
- Ken Farnes – Chair
- Edward Busuttil
- Ivor Halford
- Ashley Murphy
- Wendy Pryor
- Carl Hornstrand – Board Liaison
Nominations for the vacant Chapter Board positions are hereby called and nomination will be accepted from the 1st November 2010. Please note that the deadline for the receipt of Nominations is 17:00 (5pm) on 19th November 2010.
What does a PMI Melbourne Chapter Board member do?
As a not-for-profit association representing the PMI Melbourne Chapter members, each PMC Board Director will be accountable to the members of PMC. Each Board Director is involved in all aspects of the management and governance of the PMC and participates in the life and development of the PMC to achieve the PMC’s mission statement.
PMC Board of Directors Election:
PMC Members will elect Directors using the Chapter's eVote facility during the 2011 PMC Board of Directors' election. All members recorded in the Chapter's official membership file will receive an electronic ballot notification and will be able to cast their votes via the Chapter's eVote facility. The results of the election will be announced at the AGM which will be held at the Telstra Theatrette Level 1, 242 Exhibition Street on Tuesday 22nd February 2011 at 6:30pm.
Who is Eligible to Become a PMC Director?
Any PMC member who is of good standing can nominate themselves or another member to be considered by the Nomination Committee.
What you should know?
It is your responsibility as a potential nominee to familiarise yourself with the appropriate Chapter rules governing the nominations and election of directors. Below are some of the relevant rules:
12.3.1: In accordance with PMI policies, practices, procedures, rules and directives, no funds or resources of PMI or the Chapter may be used to support the election of any candidate or group of candidates for PMI, Component or public office. No other type of organised electioneering, communications, fund-raising or other organised activity on behalf of a candidate shall be permitted. The Nominating Committee will be the sole distributor(s) of all election materials for Chapter elected positions.
13.1.3: The Nominating Committee shall:
• Identify individuals qualified to become members of the Board;
• Solicit candidates interested in serving as officers of the Board;
• Determine their eligibility;
• Select and recommend eligible candidates;
• Conduct the election of persons to the Board.
13.1.6: The Nominating Committee shall set criteria for the evaluation and selection of candidates, which shall include the following set of expected characteristics:
• Willingness and experience to serve others;
• An eligible PMI member in good standing for the past two (2) consecutive years;
• An appreciation of the value of the profession served by PMI
• Experience as a volunteer or volunteer leader
• Experience of performing governing duties to meet legal and regulatory requirements inherent in the fiduciary oversight role of a board
• Willingness, experience and appreciation of working in a collaborative, collegial, respectful, and productive way with people having diverse backgrounds and viewpoints
• Visionary strategic thinking capability to be able to understand the interests of diverse stakeholders, to assess the impacts of environmental and marketplace trends, and then to translate those interests and impacts into strategy
• Experience of assisting in transformational change driven by strategic issues
How to submit a nomination?
To submit a nomination, please download the Nomination Pack. Completed Nomination and Nomination Compliance forms MUST to be emailed to nominations@melbourne.pmi.org.au by the closure date (electronic signatures will be accepted on the forms). It is the responsibility of the candidate to make sure that applications have been submitted successfully and received. You should receive an auto-responder email following your submission to nominations email address.

In accordance with the Melbourne Chapter Rules, the 2011 Board vacancies will be filled at the Chapter AGM which will be held on February 22nd 2011 at the Telstra Theatrette Level 1, 242 Exhibition Street. The results of the eVote will be announced at the AGM.
